Lake District - Langdale Valley

Baysbrown Farm, Chapel Stile

After finding ourselves on a pre booked campsite that just wasn’t ‘us’ (super busy, lots of cars driving about, very close neighbours) and sending out a plea to our wonderful instagram followers, begging for recommendations of a super relaxed, back to basics campsite, on a farm, with bare minimal facilities - they came up trumps!

This is by far the most beautiful campsite we have ever stayed on, situated in the heart of the Langdale Valley, in the village of Chapel Stile, Baysbrown is incredibly low key.

🔸There is no EHU, however Daisy survived 7 nights and we don’t even have solar power! We did drive almost every day though.

🔸There’s a shower block with toilets and another separate toilet block & washing up facilities

🔸On Saturday nights there are pizzas made to order on site

🔸On weekend mornings there’s a cute caravan which serves posh coffee, pancakes, breakfast baps etc.

🔸It’s an easy 10 min walk into Chapel Stile where there’s a really good little shop with a cafe above and a pub.

🔸There’s a beautiful river that runs along the bottom of the campsite, perfect for you crazy wild swimmers and an awesome rope swing for the kids.

⚠️ The only downside, you can’t book! Also as it’s a working farm you’re unlikely to get an answer if you ring. I see this as a positive though, as I think it puts off large groups and those more wary of not having an organised pitch. It was never full when we were there, we arrived on a Saturday in the summer holidays and there was plenty of room. So I’d say it was a safe gamble!

We absolutely adored this campsite, and we will definitely stay here whenever we visit the Lakes.
